Ororo Monroe, aka X-Men Stormtrooper, has been a busy woman lately. Storm recently joined the Avengersand his ongoing solo series The Storm (written by Mureva Ayodele, drawn by Lucas Werneck) has been very eventful with only three releases so far.
To recap: Storm saved Tulsa from a nuclear accident, which was actually a mutant child experiencing a power initiation. This inspired him to build a flying “Storm Sanctuary” for mutants, but it also left him with radiation poisoning. After being sent to Brother Voodoo for some magical treatment, his life is saved, but he is unable to use his mutant powers for a week. So in “Storm” #3, Ororo visited Rogue's Uncanny X-Men in Louisiana and bonded with Wolverine.. At the end of the issue, he was summoned by Doctor Doom, the new Wizard of Earth since the 2024 “Blood Hunt” crossover.
“Storm” #4 will begin with Ororo Doom's arrival in Latveria, and Marvel /Film shared an exclusive preview. The summary of the case is as follows:
“GONE IN THE WIND! DOCTOR DOOM IS THE SUPREME OF MAGIC. He has special plans for Earth's mutants. He'd like to discuss them with the beautiful Storm over fine cuisine and expensive wines. What could go wrong? The epic saga continues — a battle Latvia will never forget with this new part reflecting.
It's all about the upcoming crossover.”A world in torment,“The healer/wannabe God Emperor will use his newfound magical power to take control of Earth.

Doctor Doom and Storm have a long history in Marvel Comics
The comic opens with a summary page, Brother Voodoo healing Storm and explaining the terms of his magical contract to new readers. Having her arrive in Latveria on the back of Doom's giant raven and meeting Viktor for lunch in green (Doom's favorite color, of course). Storm says she feels almost flattered, but the host says: Suffering is never flattered.
These two sitting down to dinner will be a familiar site for longtime X-Men fans. In “X-Men” #145-147 (by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum), the mutant heroes and Doom fought for the first time. Storm is assigned to “distract” the Doctor by acting as his guest, and the two fall more in love than expected. Claremont was famous for Storm, so all the men he wrote under his pen – including Doom – were many.
That's right, John Byrne (the writer of Fantastic Four at the time) turned Doom from the X-Men into a Doombot that mimics its creator. Many years later, in SWORD #7 (by Al Ewing and Stefano Caselli), Storm hosted Doom for dinner on the planet Arraco (a Mars terraformed by the power of mutant gifts). They recalled their last dinner date, Doom forgave his misbehavior as the robot did: “The real Doom would never disrespect a goddess.” At this, Storm warns Doom not to flirt.
“Storm” #1 even included a variant cover (drawn by the amazing Marco Checchetto) that looked like a lovers' dance. Is this comic about to make Storm the Queen of Latveria? I wouldn't bet on it.
There is a small mutual interest between Storm and Doom, but it never goes any further. Torment is above his childhood habits as a schoolboy, and he would never let his attraction to Ororo cloud his vision. Ororo would never accept Doom's world-conquering ambitions, and even if her feelings develop from mere intrigue to attachment, she's not naive or insecure enough to follow Doom like a lovesick girl desperate to change the bad boy. Still, Doom sees a rare woman in Ororo: someone strong and worthy enough to be Doom's queen.
However, this meeting can be more than a social visit. The issue synopsis mentions that Doom has “plans” for mutants in the new world order. Last year during “X-Men” #35, Latvian agents stole a piece The living island of Krakoa, the now defeated homeland of mutants. Could Doom be planning to win Storm over by offering her the restored Krakoa?
“The Storm” #4 is scheduled for print and digital release on January 15, 2025.
