Liverpool: Mohamed Salah, no progress on contract renewal

Salah has been increasingly vocal about his Liverpool future in media interviews in recent months.

Salah said after the 3-0 win over Manchester United in September that he treated it as if it was his 'last' game at Old Trafford. He said something similar when Liverpool defeated Manchester City last month.

The former Chelsea forward said after the win over Southampton in November: He was “disappointed” There are no contract offers, so any deal is expected after Monday's win at West Ham. It was “far away.”

Despite the comments, Salah said he was able to shut out the speculation and focus on football.

“In my head, if this is the last six months, what do I want to see in the future?” he said.

“Looking back, would I want to say I was worried or stressed about my contract? Or would I say I had an unbelievable season? That's all in my head.

“If I get distracted, I think I want to look back and say I had an unbelievable season. That’s what I want to do.”

Salah is the Premier League's top scorer with 17 goals this season, three goals ahead of Manchester City's Erling Haaland.

Former Basel forward, club captain Virgil van Dijk and England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold are all out of contract at the end of the season.

Alexander-Arnold has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, but Manchester United manager Arne Slott has said he is. “Completely committed” to the club.
