“My dad had Sports Illustrated delivered to our house, and in ’81 Wayne Gretzky was on the cover wearing an Oilers jersey. I was a 13-year-old kid who, to my surprise, flipped through magazines and read Gretz's stats, but other than a few VHS tapes I rarely saw him play. Now, just seven years later, I'm standing on the ice at Madison Square Garden. I was drafted by the Rangers out of high school and joined the team after playing in the '88 Olympics. This is the 12th game. We’re playing the Edmonton Oilers.”
