Amazon has ocelot's deebut, the first quantity of computing chip

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced Ocelot, the first quantity of its computing chip. The news brings the line along its big rivals of its cloud Microsoft and GoogleThat also opened their own volume chips in recent months, respectively in Majorana and Willow.

Giant Cloud Computing has long been invested in volume computing space, beginning in 2019 with it Bracket Quantum Computing-As-a-Service Launched in collaboration with industry players such as Quera and Rigetti.

The quantity of computing develops in principles borrowed from volume mechanics, seizing “volume pieces” (quubits) to perform complex calculations faster than traditional computers. Applications may include drug discovery, cryptography and security, and AI.

Building the volume of chips that can run with reduced errors – one of the GATING factors for computing the volume today – will be the center of the volume promotion.

Ocelot was developed in collaboration with the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and incorporates two small silicon microchips (pictured above) stacked with each other. The company said chip design could reduce costs associated with error correction by 90%.

“With recent research advances as a whole, this is no longer a matter if, but when practical, culprit computers are available for real-world applications,” the AWS director of Quantum Hardware, Oskar Painter, said in a statement.
