As the debate of the 70 -hour working week intensifies, Anu Aga, former chairman of Thermax, says young people have to drive between professional life and family time.
“I'm not happy with the balance of words. When I hear the balance of words, I'm thinking about line poker. Sometimes you have to work extra at work and sometimes need at home. In India it's relatively easy because so many family members help at home.
Aga, who hung her shoes as chairwoman of Thermax in 2004, told many challenges she faced in her personal life, which eventually prepared a way for her professional life. After she lost her husband in 1996, she was asked to join the Thermax Council just three days after the demise of her husband. With CSR (Corporate Social Responitation) as the background of education, it was skeptical and insufficient about the operation of society. He considers the struggle to be an opportunity for growth and learning. “The fight is in everyone's life. You can learn and deal with it. Your management mechanism may be different … don't say: Why am I?” Because he has no answer and takes a lot of energy.
82 -year -old AGA is often credited that Thermax of the combat society will convert into global engineering powerhouse in energy and environmental projects.
In particular, AGA was also recognized as her philanthropic work for social welfare. He believes in the Gandhiji model in trusted, “where the wealth you provided is not only for your personal use, but also for good causes.” “When I became a chairman, we decided to give a small amount. It was far before the CSR was compulsory. That was a small thing. We also gave 50% of Thermax dividends on philanthropy, and that was spent on the education of justified, health and good animal life conditions.”
Aga, even if it advises businesses and startups on CSR, says that if corporations make CSR from the urge, it will only be one consequence. “And if, as a company, you believe in it, it has a bigger impact … I didn't like the CSR mandate before. But today, when I see the money that is allowed in CSR, I think it's a good thing,” Aga says.
