The Chiefs beat the Bills 32-29 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. they will move forward Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, Feb. 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans and will play the Philadelphia Eagles after a victory over the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game early on Sunday.
Prior to the playoffs, the Chiefs had the No. 1 seed in the AFC for the 2024-2025 NFL season, while the Bills were ranked No. 2 behind them. In the postseason, the Chiefs defeated the Houston Texans on January 18 to advance. to the championship game after having a bye week. Meanwhile, the Bills defeated the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens on January 12 and January 19, respectively, to earn their spot in the championship game against the Chiefs.
Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen They have been rivals since he was the quarterback for the Chiefs and Bills, respectively, in 2018. The two met five times in the regular season during their professional careers, with the 28-year-old Allen going 4-1 over the 29-year-old Mahomes. However, in the playoffs, Allen has yet to beat Mahomes, going 0-3 before Sunday's game. The Chiefs previously defeated the Bills in the 2021 AFC Championship Game and in the 2022 and 2024 divisional playoff games.
While Allen has yet to reach a Super Bowl with the Bills, Mahomes has won three titles with the Chiefs. After his first win in 2020, Mahomes a back-to-back Super Bowl champions when he beat the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023 and the San Francisco 49ers in 2024.
Since Super Bowl LVIII last February, the Chiefs have voiced their desire to get a three-peat, which would make them the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive titles.
“Next year in New Orleans, we will do it again,” Mahomes said on the “Impulsive With Logan Paul” podcast in May 2024. “I put it on the table. We will do it again. I'm telling you now.”
As for Allen, he told reporters of his plans for this season, emphasizing his Super Bowl dream at his 2024 press conference: “There's a whole lot of work to do, and that's it. Win the Super Bowl.”
