That could finally change Discord's new update on its overlay. The new version of the discord game overlay should make it possible to attach the faces of your friends where you want, without killing your game's performance in the process. If you like me, now you just have to convince your friends to finally take their cameras.
Discord's Current version of the overlay is one of the features you may not know about because it is both limited and too-difficult. You need to enable and disable it for your individual games, and getting a call widget that appears on the screen takes many steps. The new discord game overlay is no longer “bent” in the game window. It will instead appear like this when you open the Xbox Game Bar on the PC, darkens the current screen and offers a host of widgets. It offers controls for your voice or webcam, along with you can see your various voice channels, notifications, and video calls.
You can move these widgets around, change the size of them, and —pin them on the screen where it will appear overlayed in your game. Updating options also to change your voice or audio input without Alt+Tabbing from the game, and you can also -PIN a friend's stream through the Go Live Discord feature. Most importantly, this means you can get your friends' friends video and position them from whatever you need to see while in the game, such as your health or ammo counter. The widget should be measured to fit some video feeds at the same time, which is good because you can pin up to 25 people on the screen for a video call.
The Discord has promised that the new version of the overlay should no longer operate an interruption in any anti-cheat software. Discord noted that previous versions would sometimes be flagged by anti-virus software, so the new, changed version of the overlay displays those issues. Previous versions of the overlay did not play beautifully in games such as Destiny 2 and Street Fighter v.
My gaming friends rarely open video chats, and in their mind it is for a good reason. When your friends have been in their home all day, they may not think of themselves in the right state to show their eyes eye and unstable faces on camera. However, having a friend there in the video to see your reactions to their miraculous hole in one Golf with your friends may be worth the price of any inhibition.
I personally use discord for online tabletop rpg games, and i use it if we play Tabletop simulator or Pandayan. The RPG-based RPG Roll20 browser program includes video chat, but it's laggy, glitchy, and not worth busy for my older, luddite-minded friends. The routine problem is that video chat always stays out of the game, an Alt+tab. The new discord overlay promises that I will finally see my friends without the need for anything Extra plugin Or need to split our calls between audio into discord and video into another, worse platform.
