Donald Trump discusses a “gold card” visa during a White House visit

President Donald Trump proposed to introduce a “gold card” visa on Tuesday afternoon – a potential opportunity for foreign investors to buy a trip US citizenship.

The US is currently offering a similar opportunity through the investor investor investor EB-5, founded in 1990 and is managed by American civil and immigration services (USCIS). According to the USCIS website, the visa is open to investors who “make the necessary investment in a commercial enterprise in the United States” and “plan to create or maintain 10 permanent full -time jobs for qualified American workers”.

However, Trump's recent proposal would replace the EB-5, and instead the Republican President plans to propose a “gold card” visa for a melody of $ 5 million.

“We will sell a gold card,” Trump explained to reporters. “We'll put a price on this card about $ 5 million.”

“It will give you Green Card Permissions, In addition, it will be a journey to (American) citizenship and rich people would come to our country to buy this card, ”continued the president.

When the reporter asked if it was possible for the Russian oligarch to get a card, Trump answered positively.

“Yeah, maybe,” the American leader replied. “Hey, I know some Russian oligarchs who are very nice people.”

At least one additional member of Trump's administration signaled the support of the measure. On Tuesday he spoke to reporters, Minister of Trade Howard Lutnick accused the EB-5 of “full of nonsense, believing and fraud”.

“It was a way to get a green card that was a low price,” Lutnick said. “The President said rather than having this kind of ridiculous EB-5 program, we will end the EB-5 program. We will replace it with the Trump Gold card.”

More information about the “Golden Card” is expected to come in the next few weeks. Other countries have similar visas: the United Kingdom offers Tier 1 (investor) visa, which allows for a journey to citizenship for foreign nationals willing to invest five to £ 10 million.
