On January 21, Instagram user @livebitez took to the platform to share a live stream. personnel celebrated from the crowd at the opening ball. In the video, as Nelly takes the stage, a narrator's voice seems to share the rapper's life story with the crowd.

Additionally, the narrative explains that Nelly was born on a military base in Austin, Texas and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. Additionally, the narrative states that various members of Nelly's family served in the armed forces.

“Only in America can you come to the White House from the streets of St. Louis,” says the narration before Nelly's speech begins.

He spoke more about Donald Trump's decision ahead of his speech at the Inaugural Ball.

Speaking before taking the stage, Nelly reiterated her decision ABC News. The rapper reiterated that he believes performing for the president is an “honor” and apparently “never thought” it would be possible.

“This is not political for me. The political part is over for me. He won and growing up I was taught to respect the office, so here is Nelly,” he said.

In addition, Nelly explained why she did not back down from the first criticism she received for her choice.
