(Reuters) – A South Korean Jeju Air airliner crashed on landing at Muan International Airport on Sunday, killing 179 people in the country's deadliest aviation disaster.

The following are the final minutes of flight 7C2216 provided by South Korea's Ministry of Transport and fire authorities.

All times are Korean Standard Time (GMT+9).

8:54 AM – Air traffic control at Muan Airport cleared the plane to land on Runway 01, which is oriented 10 degrees east of north.

8:57 a.m. – Air traffic control issues a “caution – bird activity” alert.

8:59 AM – Flight 7C2216 pilot reports bird strike, declares “Mayday Mayday Mayday” and “Bird strike, bird strike, fly-by” emergency.

9:00 AM – Flight 7C2216 begins its approach and requests clearance to land on runway 19, which is an approach from the opposite end of the airport's only runway.

9:01 a.m. – Air traffic control cleared landing on runway 19.

9:02 a.m. – Flight 7C2216 touches down about 1,200 m (1,312 yd) from the 2,800 m (3,062 yd) runway.

9:02:34 – Air traffic control signals the “rescue bell” at the airport fire rescue unit.

9:02:55 – The airport fire rescue unit has completed deployment of fire rescue equipment.

9:03 – Flight 7C2216 crashed into an embankment after overshooting the runway.

9:10 a.m. – The Ministry of Transport received a report of the accident from the airport authorities.

9:23 – One man was rescued and taken to a temporary medical facility.

9:38 – Muan Airport is closed.

9:50 a.m. – Rescue of the second person from the inner tail section of the aircraft completed.
