Gungryroot Meal Kit Review (2025): AI-guided menu

My colleague Molly Higgins, who vegan, at the same time tried his own different goals and hunger preferences. They are not involved in chicken.

Ostensibly, when you sign up, a hungry dinner costs you $ 13 a delivery, while lunch costs $ 12 and breakfast is only $ 4.50. But in practice, the number of foods you choose is translated into a weekly supply of “points” that the whole may be different for each dish. And so while a dinner plate is 11 points, another may be 12. Snacks can cost only a few points each. And if you are not using all your points this week, next week is for Ribeye.

Easy, breeze, chicken-cause

In any case, when I said to Hungryroot's questionnaire that I wanted my food kit to help me save time, the algorithm listened. Among the five recipes and some prepackaged breakfast items, only one meal took more than 15 minutes to prepare.

Most plates are as large as the assembly as actual cooking. A lunchtime prep involves cutting a sous vide of breast chicken in a Caesar salad mix. An avocado chicken bowl of chicken usually involved in the formation of certain ingredients, after a few minutes heating a rice rice and pan-searing some precooked “chile lemon” chicken breast. Add to a pleasant southwest style of black bean and corn salad, along with a squirt of avocado crema, and voilà: a casual lunch at West Hollywood.

A single dish that has been cooked longer than eating is a pair of stuffed red bell-featuring a better than expected Enchilada Sauce, courtesy of the newly-school Mexican-American brand Saucy lips. Here, too, the chicken came pulled, arrived, and hidden, and the rice came back to the pouch form. My own cooking is involved in the heat of peppers in a toaster oven, almost more effort than heating the frozen lasagna.

In fact, my week's hunger sometimes felt less like cooking than a week spent preparing the food section of an upscale grocery store, or one of the better fast-paced casual food courts-the kind with sweetgreen and Baja fresh instead of Wendy's and Chipotle.

Custom remembering

That said, apart from my recipes, the ease of cooking came at the cost of fresh produce. My box contains only two red bells and an orange. When I mentioned it to my vegan co-tester, Molly, his response was quizzical. He has no problem. His foods are full of veggies. My own survey responses did not accidentally convince the hungryroot algorithm that I would rather not cook.

“All foods have fresh produce, take half an hour or less, most of which are under 500 calories, and they are not high protein (plant -based protein, of course),” Molly wrote. Some foods mix vegan proteins and vegetable sides. Others include veggie full of frys and a plant-based plate made of chipotle-spiced, charred cauliflower. While I was gently warming up a premixed black bean salad, Molly was outside the Charring Brussels Sprout.
