Liam PayneHer friend Roger Nores filed a defamation lawsuit against the singer's father, Geoff Payne.
She claimed her late friend's father had smeared her in the media in the weeks after Payne's death, citing the man's allegation that Nores was negligent in caring for the singer.
Roger Nores also said in the suit that the late Liam Payne “never agreed to be his caregiver and never was.”

TMZ Payne's friend Roger Nores has obtained documents that show he is suing the singer's father, Geoff.
In the lawsuit, Nores, who was with the late singer just hours before her death, accused her friend's father of smearing Payne's name after her death. He referred to Geoff's public claims that he was responsible for Payne's care.
Nores also suggested that Geoff had made her a target of the Buenos Aires police and submitted a sworn statement claiming that Nores had “been fully responsible for Liam's care over the last period”.
According to the 35-year-old, Geoff's claims were false because she “never agreed to be Liam's carer and never was”.

He went on to say that he had a strong bond with the late singer and that they supported each other, but that it was only because they were “dear friends” and not due to any paid arrangement.

Elsewhere in the lawsuit, Nores later pleaded not guilty to any involvement in Payne's death, claiming that he never “administered recreational drugs to the singer and did not monitor any medications she was taking.”
He also noted that the late singer spoke with his father about “not being able to spend the same time supporting” the former One Direction star. That reported conversation took place via email between herself and Geoff in August 2024, which Nores claims Geoff did not disclose to authorities.
Nores also said he urged Geoff to take immediate action to address Payne's addiction struggles.

When they spoke the next month, Nores reportedly urged Geoff Payne to go to the Wellington, FL, residence to take care of her son. However, despite Payne's emphasis on his condition, he claimed that Geoff never made the trip.

Nores said in her lawsuit that the late singer “never provided a temporary or new bodyguard” for Geoff Payne after firing her “paid caregiver” and bodyguard, Bledar Vata.
Not only did he blame Geoff, but Nores also noted that people like Payne's girlfriend had “unique ability, opportunity, and superior knowledge of his activities and needs.”
Later, he urged the late father of the singer to give up his sworn statement to the police.
“Geoff needs to retract his sworn statement because he knows very well that I am not Liam's nurse or carer,” she said. TMZ.
She added: “Liam, who I miss every day, was my dear friend and an independent, bright, respectful, free man who did what he wanted when he wanted.”
If the lawsuit ends in his favor, Nores intends to donate the money awarded to him to his late friend's son Ayy.

Argentinian authorities charged Liam Payne's friend

Nores is one of five suspects charged in the investigation into Payne's death after the singer fell from a hotel balcony.
He is charged with manslaughter in relation to claims he left Payne despite knowing the One Direction star was not in his best condition when he left the hotel on the day he died.
Nores was not remanded in custody, but he was banned from leaving Argentina until the case is concluded.

“I never left Liam, I went to his hotel three times that day and left 40 minutes before this incident,” she said.
“When I left, there were over 15 people in the hotel lobby chatting and joking with him. I never imagined something like this would happen.”
