Local residents are coming out in support of the front lines fighting the wildfires in Southern California


More than 15,000 people are helping to fight the fires across Southern California. Crews came from across the country — and even from Mexico — to prevent further destruction. While they are holding it down in the front lines, others are now joining in to get on board.

In Southern California, it's an all-around effort on board. Two at most devastating fires they burn an area larger than the entire city of San Francisco in the state's history.

Fox tagged along with several local residents who are determined to make this difficult time easier for these firefighters fight with flames.

“We've been told that some of these firefighters drink five or six a day,” said Santa Monica resident Dylan Jones.

Energy drinks are just one of the things firefighters need when facing flames head-on.

Rosen and his friends grew up around the Palisades. When the fire started, they got a message from a firefighter friend about what they needed on the front line.

“It's crazy…it was just, 'get this, this and this' and [the outreach] took off,” said Santa Monica resident Evan Rosen.

So far, Rosen and his friends have raised about $10,000 to address the needs of firefighters.

He and his friends continue to make daily runs to local stores and restaurants to pick up lotion, sunscreen, pain relievers, and hot meals for national guards, firefighters, police, etc.

“We're just trying to do our part, trying to help them out, trying to help these firefighters out. I mean, a lot of people are devastated. It's hard … but the community is coming together as a city,” said the Santa Monica native. Ray Manicini.

Their efforts go far beyond Santa Monica. The power of social media has taken their search international.

“My cousin Aidan also re-shared one of my posts and Venmo isn't a thing they use in England and everyone was downloading apps. Five or ten people were sending us money. I had friends from college who had moved away.” to Portugal saying, “Hey, what can I do remotely?” Jones said.

The group says they will continue as long as the community is willing to help. The latest requests from the front lines include IV fluid, unscented chapstick, sunscreen, energy drinks, facial wipes and warm, healthy meals.
