“Low wage, low trust, bad food, harassment”: The doctor reveals the hard reality of the life of high school

Aspiring doctors might want to cheat. In a widely shared post on X, dr. Sudhir Kumar, a neurologist in Apollo hospitals in Hyderabad, has issued future warnings to future healthcare workers: “The dreaming of future doctors should be aware of the harsh reality.” ”

Dr. Kumar did not pull any strikes when he distributed an exhausting path to the medical title in India – from the seat to the survival of the years that followed.

“Getting a place for MBBS and PG is difficult-it's a well-known fact. The years of preparation (studies) AK gaining a place is needed good luck,” he wrote. One day the battle only intensifies.

“Medical studies are difficult. There are many objects and all are huge. Most of what is taught during MBBS is the theory and very little practical,” he said, “So, if you get your MBBS title, you have very low confidence in real patient management.”

Then comes the residence. “You are obliged to work for 24-36 hours on the section and clocking 100 hours a week is not unusual,” Dr. Kumar. “Night duties are common and you have to work on Sunday and during festivals.”

That's not all. He pointed out that “living conditions in hostels may not be ideal” and at the same time emphasize the costs of private medical education and student loan weight. “The stiper during internship and stay is low,” he added. “Even after the stay of the stay, the starting salaries are low. So you should prepare for the life of a modest life for at least decades after graduating from MBBS.”

“Stress and burnout are common among doctors,” he said.

Dr. Kumar, who called for urgent reforms, said, “Just because these unfavorable conditions have been there in the last few decades, cannot be justified today.” He called on transparency in MBBS fees, better hostel conditions, optimized working hours, higher scholarships and laws against harassment.

The post quickly hit the chord. One user replied: “Old feudal practices that residents make 36 hours of shifts are archaic … oppressed become oppressors.” Another added: “Everything is possible if they take a doctor as you as an inspiration.”
