Manila Town provides a virtue of mosquitoes with high dengue fever


The authorities in one of the most intense urban centers in the Philippines offer a cash reward for mosquitoes in an attempt to stop the spread of dengue fever.

Carlito Sernal, head of the village of Parangai, has announced the addition of hills in central Manila, the virtue of one Piso (less than two years) for every five mosquitoes.

While the reward news has sparked contempt for social media, Mr. Sirnal defended this necessary for the health of society.

This step follows a recent rise in dengue fever, which is spread by mosquitoes, in the Philippines.

The program, which will last for at least a month, began after the death of two students in Al -Sayed Cernal neighborhood from the disease.

Mr. Sernal added that the reward applies to all mosquitoes – dead or alive – and their larvae. Direct mosquitoes will be exterminated using UV light.

He told the BBC that a total of 21 people have already demanded their reward, as it has achieved a total of 700 mosquitoes and larvae so far.

The BBC has told the BBC that it “appreciates goodwill to local government managers to fight dengue.”

However, he rejected further comment, when asked whether hunting mosquitoes for cash was an effective way to stop dengue.

“We urge all those concerned to consult and coordinate local health staff or the regional office of the Ministry of Health in their area for evidence -based practices known to be working,” he said.

Mr. Sernal said he was aware that the reward was beaten on social media, but he added: “This is one of the largest and most intense fields. We have to do something to help the local government.”

Barangay Add Hills is home to about 70,000 people, jammed in a 162 hectare patch in the heart of the capital, Manila Metro.

Mr. Sernal said that the reward was supposed to complete the current measures such as cleaning the streets and preventing the accumulation of water, as it lay mosquitoes that carry dengue fever.

Dengue fever is a settlement in tropical countries, and outbreaks often occur in bad sewage areas that allow mosquitoes that carry viruses to multiply.

In severe cases, dengue fever causes internal bleeding that can lead to death. It includes symptoms of headache, nausea, joint pain and muscles.

The Philippine authorities recently reported a rise in dengue fever cases throughout the country due to seasonal rain. The Ministry of Health said that it recorded 28234 cases on February 1, and it is a 40 % jump from the previous year.

The administration advised the public to maintain the cleanliness of their surroundings, destroy possible mosquito raising sites such as tires, wear long sleeves shirts and pants and apply mosquito repellent.

Regardless of dengue fever, the Ministry of Health said that the rain has also fueled an increase in influenza -like diseases and premium disease, a disease transmitted by mice that people suffer when going into the flood water.
