Meghan Markle's Netflix trailer faces criticism for its glamorous portrayal
Shortly after the beach video, Meghan delighted her fans once again by unveiling the trailer for her highly anticipated Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.
In the trailer, Meghan cooks, arranges flowers and keeps bees with guests like actresses Mindy Kaling and her Suits co-star Abigail Spencer.
The eight-episode show, which premieres on January 15, will feature Meghan hosting her celebrity friends at an estate in California and offering cooking, gardening and entertaining tips.
However, the speaker Mirrorroyal historian Dr. Tessa Dunlop warned that the trailer's overly curated and glamorous image could backfire.
Dunlop noted: “It's easy to mock Meghan and the perfect world she presents in the new Netflix trailer: glamorous (slightly) famous friends, effortlessly fresh food, Insta-ready snaps.”
He added: “But don't worry, it looks like that's what the Duchess is doing: in her words, 'I've always loved taking something pretty ordinary and elevating it.'” No, this time she's with her impressive husband and her millennial pals. Not to mention Prince Harry, who was lucky enough to be seen alongside.”
Dunlop also noted Meghan's claim to creating a warm, family atmosphere, with celebrity chef Roy Choi commenting, “They're family now.”
However, Dunlop noted that this sentiment may be hollow given the Sussexes' “trail with their nearest and dearest”.
