Michael Seibel is leaving the Y combinator


Michael Seibel announced Late Wednesday at X that after more than 12 years in the well -known accelerator y combinator, he is moving to a “emeritus” partner.

Seibel first joined the YC as a founder, who went through the program twice – once at the streaming startup Justin.tv and eventually with the streaming app socialcam. Seibel later served as a team partner, director, and CEO of the YC accelerator.

Notably, Seibel returned to a less paper partner in the group recently. In a post on the YC blog last year, he wrote that he was willing to “give my leadership responsibilities,” that the move became “effective” after the winter winter of the startups that completed the program.

A dozen years is a long term for anyone, but Seibel's removal may be set in movement early in 2022, when Tan was appointed President and CEO. The news was about two weeks before the YC's spring batch of the founders kicked in their own duty tour; The program will run from April to June.
