'Really? You're Tamil, isn't you?

CEO AI AI AIVIND Srinivas created waves in the technical world, but personal revelation left Zerodha co -founder Nikhil Kamath visibly stunned. During an interview about Kamath's WTF, Podcast was, Srinivas shared that he was the first engineer in his widespread family – a reality that resisted expectations and questioned common perception.

The moment developed when Kamath asked about his family background.

“My mom works in the central government and my dad was financial accountant. So I am actually the first engineer in an extended family,” Srinivas said.

Kamath, left, replied, “Really? Are you Tamil, right?” His reaction reflected the widely held faith – engineering is deeply rooted in South Indian culture, and most of Tamil families have a strong tendency to technical professions.

Srinivas acknowledged the stereotype, but explained that the roots of his family were in finance. “Engineering was still a new thing for us,” he added.

In addition to academic and career milestones, Srinivas attributed his family, especially his mother and wife, for playing an instrumental role on his way. “I did all the work to study and do the exams well, but they took care of other things for me. So it's not an individual effort,” he shared.

Even now, as CEO of the rapidly growing AI, he will find herself to support his wife. “I run a company, but it takes care of so many things for me at home. And it's not just the duties of the household – it is moral support,” he stressed.

Srinivas also opened on the emotional weight of the lead. “As a founder or CEO, you always have to look as if you have all come.

He emphasized the importance that someone could rely, especially in uncertain times. “There are things you can't share with your colleagues, because as a leader you have to reflect confidence. But having a trusted person you can talk to, whether to assign or control reality, that means a difference.”

As he emphasized, he can also be deceptive. “Sometimes when things happen well, you feel like you're on top of the world. But someone has to bring you back to the ground and say,” Hey, calm down. You don't have anything yet. “My wife does it for me,” he shared.

Srinivas remembered his days Iit and remembered how his mother played a similar role. “When I studied on Iit, my mom always kept me under control and made sure I was concentrating. And that's important.” He noted that while too many voices can create chaos, have one or two trustworthy people as a leading force is invaluable.
