Ricki Lake has a warning to fans as she and others work to rebuild their lives afterward Devastating Los Angeles fires.
In a video clip she posted on her Instagram page, the “Hairspray” star said that things are “surreal” at the moment, especially after she learned “that there is a post (pretending) as me asking for money.”
“I'm not asking for any money for myself,” Lake explained. “I don’t even know what happened, but it looks like the post may have disappeared.”

She added that she plans to make donations to “a number of organizations” and hopes to create a system to match funds for anyone looking to contribute, but made clear that she is not seeking any money from the public for herself.

Lake lost her Malibu home last week in the Palisades fire, and she told fans about it It was her “dream house.”

“It's all gone” I wroteBelow is a series of photos of her home before the fire. “I can't believe I'm writing these words.” Lake said their friend made a “valiant and courageous effort” to save the house, but unfortunately they were unsuccessful. “The place where we planned to grow old together. We never took our heavenly place on the bluff overlooking our beloved Malibu for granted, not even for a second. I shared sunset views with you all almost daily.”
In her latest video, the former talk show host admitted she was at a loss for words.
“I was so touched by the love and support I felt from the world,” she said. “It was like… I don't have the words. I'm a fucking talk show host! And I don't have words for what we're all going through as a community in Los Angeles.”

“I just wanted to reach out and say thank you, thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. We will recover, we will recover,” she continued.
At one point, the 56-year-old became emotional, saying: “My heart bleeds for the people who are going through this alongside me, and I know it.” I'm one of the lucky ones In many ways. But I'm devastated. I am destructive to my community. “I'm suffering but I'm fine too.”
“This was different. This is different. This is our entire community, our town, our city. And this, I can't believe it's been a week. In some ways, it feels like it was last night,” said Lake, who previously lost his home to a fire in 2010. In some ways, it feels like five years ago, but I haven't slept much, I look like I'm getting old.

She concluded her video by telling fans: “Just sending my heartfelt condolences and love to my fellow humans and animals. Don't even get me started on animals. This is deep guys, but we will rise as a community and as a human family, we will get through this together. The kindness, the stories I see.” On social media, the goodness out there.
“That's it, I love you guys. I love everyone. I love all humans and all four-legged creatures and flying things and trees, and I want us to be stronger.”
