Russia urged proof that it wants peace with Ukraine

The United Kingdom and France have urged Russia Vladimir Putin to prove that he wanted a peace agreement with Ukraine, before talks between Putin and Donald Trump on Tuesday.

French President Emmanuel Macron praised the “courage” of Ukraine President Volodimir Zellixse in approval of the ceasefire, and Russia challenged the same thing.

Macron said in a post on X.

UK Foreign Minister David Lami said that Putin should agree to “a full and unconditional ceasefire now,” and he tells the deputies that he had not seen “any sign” that Putin was serious about a peace agreement.

He warned that the United Kingdom and its allies have “more cards that we can play” to help forcing Russia to negotiate “seriously.”

The White House seemed more optimistic on the eve of Trump Putin's conversations, which would be held over the phone, saying that peace in Ukraine was “not closer.”

White House press secretary Caroline Levit told reporters on Monday that Trump is a “designer” to secure the peace agreement.

She said: “There is a power plant on the borders of Russia and Ukraine that was on the borders of Russia and Ukraine, which was discussed with the Ukrainians.” There is a power plant on the borders of Russia and Ukraine.

The attachment is likely to be the Zaporizhzia nuclear plant, the largest in Europe. It was occupied by Russian forces since March 2022, and fears of a nuclear accident have continued due to fighting in the area.

On Sunday, he was asked about the concessions considered in the ceasefire negotiations, Trump said: “We will talk about the ground. We will talk about power plants (…) We are already talking about it, and we divide some assets.”

“Never do that.”

While Putin previously said he supports the ceasefire, he set a list of conditions for peace.

One of the areas of disagreement is the western Kursk region in Russia, where Ukraine launched a military penetration last August and seized some lands.

Russia has prompted it in recent weeks, and Putin now claims it has completely returned to control the Corsak.

He also raised many questions about how the ceasefire could be monitored along the front lines in the east, and he said he would not accept NATO forces on the region.

The peace proposal on the table was discussed by the Ukrainian and American delegates in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia last week.

After a closed hours in a room, they announced the 30 -day ceasefire proposals, which Ukraine said was ready to accept.

The President of France Macron and the newly -elected Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who met on Tuesday, confirmed their nations that will continue their “fixed” support for Ukraine and ask “clear obligations” from Russia.
