This article includes spoilers “We're going to be in a lot of trouble” for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Episode 7.
All Star Wars projects run the gamut in intensity, from the Saturday morning adventures of an animated series like Rebels to the hyper-mechanical, anti-Imperial politics of Andor. But within each project there is also a range. “Rebels,” for example, has plenty of cartoony episodes full of hijinks and dad jokes, but it also pulls out all the stops for heavier moments now and then.
For the most part, “Skeleton Crew” stays on the younger side of things, as evident by its four pre-pubescent protagonists. There are references to more adult-oriented ideas, sure, but the show generally stayed in the Amblin Entertainment sector of risqué but not dark childhood adventure stories. said that “Skeleton Crew” episode 7There's a brief moment in “We're Going to Be in Big Trouble” that turns out to be one of the darkest moments in the entire Star Wars franchise.
After an entire season of the character telling the kids they can't trust Jod Na Navud (Jude Law), he proves all his enemies right by returning to his pirate ways. Running into Onyx Cinder as she escapes her old pirate crew, Jod is fully disguised, yelling at the kids that they are weak, nervous, and generally useless. He does all of this while wielding a looted lightsaber that he previously found in the hidden treasure of legendary pirate Captain Tak Rennod. While it's pretty clear that Jod actually has a soft spot for kids and is more posturing, it's still hard to watch him threaten kids with his blue lightsaber. Anakin Skywalker slaughtering the Jedi youth During Order 66.
Jod may be a survivor of Anakin's Jedi Temple massacre
Lightsabers are always cool, but not always scary. When they are, it's usually red that does the damage. When Jod enters the Onyx Cinder's cockpit and ignites his stolen blade, the kids all cower in fear, and rightfully so. Although not shot for a full shot, the scene will naturally evoke images of the young men hiding in the Jedi Council Chamber in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this scene is that Jod himself survived the attack. He appears to be in his 40s in Skeleton Crew, which no doubt made him old enough to be picked up by the Jedi and taken to the temple on Coruscant before or during the Clone Wars. We also know he's had at least some proper Jedi training, because in an earlier episode, he tells Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers) “Your focus defines your reality.” The same line that Qui-Gon Jinn delivers to a young Anakin in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.
Had Jod not been at the Coruscant Jedi Temple during Order 66, he would have been deployed alongside his master, fighting in the war. Given his age, the former seems more likely, which means he's all too familiar with the damage a blue lightsaber can do in the wrong hands.
There's still a lot we don't know about Jod Na Nawood
It's hard to tell how much proper lightsaber training Jod Na Nawood has had so far, as he hasn't done much other than threaten to strike with what he stole. Likewise, his arc basically copied Long John Silver from Treasure Island (or Treasure Planet). After failing, he meets some guys who have a real chance of landing him a big payday. He comes to care for them, but when treasure is in sight, he turns away from outward character development to avoid loot. Even his pirate name, Captain Silvo, references the character.
It seems clear that in episode 8, Jod will have a change of heart and regret the way he treated the children. But with just one episode left, we might still end Skeleton Crew season 1 with some big questions about Jod's past. His Force powers don't seem as strong as some of the other characters in the Star Wars universe, but if the rumors that Dave Filoni's upcoming film will feature some Skeleton Crew characters are true, he could still come in handy. “Star Wars” movie. This movie should be a kind of climax for the “Mandalorian” era and it would be interesting to see Jod interact with some other Jedi and Jedi characters like Ahsoka Tano, Ezra Bridger and even Grogu. A survivor of Anakin's Jedi Temple attack.
