Last week, we got a fresh new look The monkey, full of shocking (literally) death and dark humor. Many people seem to like that trailer, because Neon's Now its a success for the indie horror scene.
According to the studio, The monkey Now holds the title of having “the watched independent horror film trailer ever.” It hit more than 43 million views worldwide within 24 hours of launch, which then crack in more than 100 views in 72 hours. At the time of Neon's release, that number reached 109 million on all platforms, and led to defeat trailers for non-indie horror hits Smile (100 million) and The black phone (73 million for the first), and the second trailer for relatively indie Talk to me (23 million). It still manages to present two trailers' views for the current horror hit Nosfer, which came to 74 million and 48 million, respectively.
Studios are fond of trailer trailer views if it is possible to show how much hype is behind their movies. In The monkey Case in point, it has a few things to go for it: Based on a short story by Stephen King, it came from Osgood Perkins, to ride Longlegs Last year for Neon. That movie went on to be A huge hit And studio's best theatrical release ever, in part because it's marketing is very dang scary and sinfulAnd hiding what Nicolas Cage's titular killer looked like, you were invited to see what the chaos was. By comparison, Monkey's The trailer looks like a riot to watch Theo James who can't stop people being killed by that little primer drummer, and it's hard to argue against that kind of Final destination-esque slapstick.
The monkey Theaters on February 21, but Neon recently scanned it to the Beyond Fest for positive acceptance. Expect our review closer.
