The Sudanese army told the BBC that it recovered the airport in the capital, Khartoum, from the semi -military RSF, which represents its latest regional gain in the brutal civil war for two years.
General Mohamed Abdel -Rahman Al -Blawi said that the forces had taken them completely and may be able to wipe the rest of the RSF fighters by the end of the day.
The army has been moving quickly since the presidential palace was restored on Friday, and civilians were celebrating the streets as it was progressing.
The RSF team has controlled most of the capital since the war began in April 2023. On the country level, hundreds of thousands were killed, and millions were forced to flee their homes.
Earlier, an army spokesman told the BBC that the forces had seized the Manchia Bridge, the last RSF bridge, along with a military camp in the stronghold of the southern group.
But the war has not ended yet.
RSF still holds almost all of the Darfur region in western Sudan, where earlier this week, an eyewitness said dozens of civilians were killed when Air Force bombing a market.
