There's a new avatar: The last Airbender Cartoon to go to Nickelodeon

Ten years since Avatar: The Legend of Korra released its final stage and more than 15 years since Avatar: The Last Airbender Stoop. Now, finally, Nickelodeon has a greenlit of a sequel series and it's a bit amazing. That is Avatar: Seven Havens will be a 2D animated 26-episode followup that connects to the rise of the next avatar after Korra.

Franchise creators Michael Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko form a series, so we know it's in good hands. The outline is a bit dark. It seems that the world fell into the chaos following a cataclysmic event of some kind. The titular "Seven Havens" Refer to a tiny civilization managed to welcome the storm.

Also, the next avatar will be an earthbender female. In this world, however, the avatar has been modified and seen as a harbinger of destiny rather than a hero. That's an interesting -kind twist.

"The new incident of avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery and a whole new cast of amazing -wonderful characters. Get ready to take another epic and emotional adventure," Dimartino and Konietzko said in a statement.

The premiere date and casting information will be released later in the year. We know that 26 stages will be divided into two books, or seasons, similar to how original shows are administered. It remains to be seen if the series is available in 26 stages or if that is the only first two chapters. Personally, I wonder if any older Korra character will come out.

The announcement of Avatar: Seven Havens is the latest news from the franchise. Dimartino and Konietzko are also working on a trilogy of animated films, with the first centered on an adult Aang and friends. That one hit theaters on January 30, 2026. Of course, the Netflix live-action adaptation of the original series .
