The incident happened in the skit “Bungee”, where Chalamet played an instructor in an exercise class. At one point, the participants were told to sing “Jimmy Carter” to each other, to fake their deaths, to hang themselves, to fake their deaths.
The reaction of the audience is immediate, with gasps that sound like filling the rest. Viewers at home expressed their disapproval on social media, and it was equally legitimate.

Another also declared Chalamet's chances, which Bob Dylan founded in Bob Dylan's “Totally Unknown” with his speech.
“If I were a betting man, I'd bet on Timothée Chalamet winning an Oscar for Dylan Portrayal, but the dead Jimmy Carter joke is on 'SNL' a whole month before the vote. Insensitive and really immature. Just unnecessary,” the fan wrote.
