Trent Alexander-Arnold: Should Liverpool's right-back join Real Madrid?

Sean: Trent is a big boy. He will make his own choice. I want him to stay. The sadness that hovers over all of this is that we fans fear he will end up like Michael Owen, trading his legendary status for a trip to Spain. I hope that when Alexander-Arnold returns to Anfield he gets a better reception than Owen (who is largely ignored). Madrid is a great club and a great city. But this isn't Liverpool!

Russ: Trent has been at the club for 20 years and won absolutely everything, so it's understandable why he would want a change of scenery. What he needs to understand is that he will never be loved by the Madrid fans like he was at Anfield. He will never be captain of his favorite club, and he will never win the Ballon d'Or no matter which club he plays for. He will always be welcomed back to Anfield, but not with open arms. He tarnished his legacy like Owen and McManaman.

Fraser: While Salah and Virgil have made it clear they want to stay (and we're both fairly confident they will extend their extensions), Trent has been quiet throughout, leading us to fear the worst. What upsets me the most is that he is leaving on a free transfer and Liverpool are getting nothing in return. This is very disappointing for Trent and very selfish of him. I just hope this doesn't hinder or derail our campaign. Good thing Conor Bradley will be back soon.

screwdriver: Of the three players, he is the one we can afford to lose. He's a luxury player who too often fails to live up to the massive hype surrounding him. We have a replacement ready so he can go. It's getting boring now. He will warm up Madrid's bench like Owen did.

so: First of all, as a lifelong Liverpool fan, losing Trent would be a huge blow… and rightfully so. But I think he's made up his mind, and who can blame him? When Real Madrid knocks, you open the door! Having developed a friendship with Jude Bellingham through his time with the England national team, the settling in process will be much easier. It's now up to Liverpool to try and get the best deal possible (if it's not too late).
