US President Donald Trump has appointed a conservative and suspended media critic of Israel, Leo Brent Bouzil III, as an ambassador to South Africa, amid deteriorating diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The nomination of Mr. Bouzil is the expulsion of Washington from the Ambassador of South Africa, Ibrahim Rasol, with observations that are considered to be criticized by Trump.
The Trump administration has condemned the legal action of South Africa against Israel in the International Court of Justice on the war in Gaza and accused its government's lie of persecuting South Africa whitening to seize their lands.
The nomination should still be confirmed by the US Senate.
Mr. Bouzil, 69, was nominated to lead the US Agency for World Media – a brief umbrella organization now supervised the voice of America and free radio Europe – but the show was later withdrawn.
Earlier in his career, he founded the Media Research Center – which has the announced task “determining the liberal bias” – and the Parent TV Council, among other governorate groups.
His son, Liu, was among those who stormed the American Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Relations between the United States and South deteriorated sharply under Trump.
The United States expelled Ibrahim Rasul earlier in March, as Foreign Minister Marco Rubio described as a “sweaty taste”.
In the X publication, it announces that Rasool “is no longer welcome”, Rubio is linked to an article from the right Breitbart port, which was martyred with Rasool comments that accused Trump of trying to “show the white victim as a dog as a dog.”
While low -related diplomats are expelled at times, it is very unusual in the United States to have a senior official.
In February, Trump also signed an executive that freezes in the United States to South Africa, noting “unreasonable racial discrimination” against white Africans. The matter refers to a new law, the confiscation law, which allows the government to remove private lands.
South Africa, including Africans, constitute 7.2 % of the population, but they carry 72 % of the individually owned agricultural lands, according to government in 2018.
The South African government, led by the African National Congress (ANC), said in an alliance of 10 parties, earlier that Trump's actions are based on “a campaign of wrong information and propaganda aimed at distorting our great nation.”
