Trump intends to rename the Gulf of Mexico as Mount Denali on his first day in office


White House Press Secretary Carolyn Leavitt confirmed Monday that President-elect Trump will sign executive orders renaming the Gulf of Mexico and Mount Denali on his first day in office.

The orders, first reported by the New York Post, are among a A series of executive actions Trump intends to take office after being sworn in on Monday. These actions would rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America and Mount Denali, the tallest mountain in North America, to Mount McKinley.

A preview of the order obtained by the newspaper said: “President Trump brings common sense to government and renews the foundations of American civilization.”

The orders direct the Minister of Interior to make a name change. The changes will apply to official federal documents and maps, although it is unclear whether the order will also require schools to use the new terminology.

Trump did He repeatedly mentioned renaming Mount Denali in Alaska as well, noting that it was originally named after President William McKinley.

President Obama renamed the mountain Denali in 2015, at the request of the Alaska Legislature.

Trump plans to sign nearly 200 orders on his first day in office, targeting immigration and scaling back DEI initiatives.

Incoming Trump administration officials told Fox News Digital that the main theme of his actions on Day One is “promises made, promises kept.”

“As soon as President Trump gets his hands on the Bible and swears an oath to the Constitution of the United States, America’s golden age will begin,” White House press secretary Carolyn Leavitt told Fox News Digital. “The American people will have a leader who delivers on the promises he made to restore the greatness of our country.”
