Updates on Indiana basketball game at Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Coach Mike Woodson and the Hoosiers will look to continue their winning ways with a road game against Iowa on Saturday at 8 PM ET at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Indiana has won five straight, including three in Big Ten play, improving to 13-3 overall and 4-1 in Big Ten play. The Hoosiers snapped a four-game losing streak against Iowa last season, but Woodson failed to win in two attempts at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Coach Fran McCaffery and the Hawkeyes enter Saturday's game with an 11-4 overall record and 2-2 mark in Big Ten play, most recently defeating Nebraska 97-87 in overtime at home.

Welcome to our live blog where we'll share updates, highlights, stats and thoughts on the game live from Iowa City.

1H 18:59 – Rice is fouled by Brock Harding on a drive on first possession. He also beat the dribble almost immediately to open possession. Rice sank both free throws. Freeman beat Ballo off the dribble on Iowa's first possession but missed the layup. Mgbako then missed a good look inside on a fast break. Both teams had a bit of a sloppy start. IU is ahead 2-0.

6:53 p.m. – Indiana-Iowa starting pitchers: Myles Rice, Trey Galloway, Luke Goode, Mackenzie Mgbako, Oumar Ballo. Brock Harding, Drew Delwell, Josh Diggs, Payton Sandport, Owen Freeman.

6:49 PM – Pregame thoughts on the matchup. Can Indiana limit Iowa from three? The Hawkeyes rank 14th in the nation in 3-pointers made per game. Indiana can compete with Iowa to some degree, but to do so they will need to limit turnovers. I don't think there's anyone in Iowa who can hang with Oumar Ballo. We look forward to a high-scoring match.

5:45 PM – Renault and Newton are not playing tonight, but seeing both of them shooting and dribbling lightly is a good sign as Indiana prepares for tonight's game. Although he doesn't use that much strength, it's nice to see him at least moving his body instead of just sitting on the bench.

4:00 PM – Indiana junior power forward Malik Reneau will not play today, while Jakai Newton and Gabe Cupps are also out indefinitely. Reneau suffered an apparent right knee injury against Rutgers and did not play against Penn State or USC. Luke Goode started in his place.
