The 2024 college football season won't end until next Monday night. Ohio State and the Battle of Notre Dame For the national competition.
But CBS Sports college football reporter Brad Crawford is already setting his sights on the 2025 season. 'Previous Top 25' For next season.
Michigan participated last season as follows: Preseason Top 10 TeamsThe 2023 National Championships have just begun. Following an 8-5 record in head coach Sherrone Moore's first year, expectations for the Wolverines are more tempered for next season. Crawford ranked Michigan 21st in his initial rankings.

If Michigan begins the 2025 season ranked 21st, it would be its lowest preseason ranking since the start of the 2021 season outside of the Associated Press top 25. The Wolverines won their first of three straight Big Ten championships that season. Michigan's previous lowest preseason ranking was in 2015, Jim Harbaugh's first season as head coach, when the Wolverines began the season ranked 22nd.
Obviously, a lot could change between now and the start of the 2025 season. Michigan State recently had early enrollees on campus and still has a second signing period left for the 2025 class to arrive in February.
Additionally, the Wolverines may continue to add talent through the transfer portal as the offseason continues, and will likely take on additional attrition to their roster once the spring portal window opens after spring practice. Taking all these factors into account, predicting what your team will look like in seven months is an impossible task.
Crawford's ranking gives an early idea of what the national expectations are for Michigan State in its second year under Sherrone Moore.
