Notre Dame has worked hard to keep its offensive linemen healthy this football season, and even more so in the College Football Playoff. The mix of combinations has made things difficult, but Notre Dame continues to advance to the national championship game against Ohio State in Atlanta.
Had to deal with Tennessee's great line, Georgia NFL type, Abdul Carter and the Penn State front. It's more than just surviving and evolving.
Notably, this year's original starter at left tackle, Charles Jagusah, missed nearly the entire season with a torn pectoral muscle shortly before Notre Dame faced Texas A&M in College Station in Week 1.
This led to true freshman Anthonie Knapp starting at Jagusah's spot, and he eventually did tremendous things throughout the season on his way to being a Freshman All-American selection.
With Knapp now down with a sprained ankle, veterans Tosh Baker and Charles Jagusah will battle it out for the starting left tackle spot this week.

Notre Dame football public relations posted a depth chart on Twitter/X this afternoon that lists Tosh Baker 'Or' Charles Jagusah as the starter. To me, this means that a final decision on the left tackle hasn't been made yet and could be right before playing time.
Baker is a veteran who has been with the program for about 10 years but has never secured a starting spot. He's a solid player, but would Notre Dame be better off letting the less experienced but more talented Jagusah go?
Jagusah was the original starter over Knapp and Baker and appears to be close to 100% health as he has been this season.
But another problem with this is that starting right guard Rocco Spindler can't go. Spindler also suffered an injury in the Orange Bowl against Penn State, and the aforementioned Jagusah was his replacement in that game.
At this point, Jagusah will likely be a starter at left tackle or right guard. If Notre Dame is going to beat Ohio State in the national championship game, it needs the best starting five available, and the 'Jags are part of that.
