When governments introduce social programs and freebies into various segments, the key question often does not cover: Who really pays for it? The Deepak Ghadge, based in Mumbai, shows an increase in everyday prices, such as the recent increase in shivneri tariffs between Mumbai and Pune, as hidden costs are shown in the middle class.
“In the budget, this large announcement of approximately 1 Lakh plus tax savings in the middle class.
Ghadge claims that while social security focused is to help some, the burden of their financing is quietly handed over by small but cumulative increases in prices that affect everyday life.
Ghadge shares his personal experience and writes: “I travel to bombi very often. Every week. In general, I take the Shivneri bus running MSRTC – it's fast and decent, mostly they're in time. ”
But a recent ride came with unexpected costs. “My ticket used to be 610 ₹ On the one hand, VS VS private bus fare of 400 GBP – already 50% difference. To my surprise, I was asked to pay 700 GBP. I asked the conductor, why is the fare so high? Said the fare increased by 15%.”
It points out that “15% hike is a double rate of inflation, and when you already charge 50% of the bonus compared to private players.” The conductor's reaction was clear: “We can't do anything, it's a government's decision.”
Ghadge breaks it further:
- 40 seats for bus, 100 GBP per ticket.
- 4 trips daily = 16,000 GBP for a bus per day.
- 3 500 buses in operation = 5.6 crore additional daily income.
- Within 300 days it is 1,680 GBP Crore per year.
However, passengers will not receive any other advantage. “By giving another 100 ₹, I don't reach 45 minutes earlier.
He warns that these “small hikes” become an invisible tax in the middle class and fund Freebia schemes. “Do not fall or love for freebies because we pay for it.
Ghadge also emphasizes the wider tax burden: “Today we pay an average of 12 to 18% of GST for all the goods and services we consume at the peak of income tax. Either we should reduce the percentage of the tax or cancel the income tax. More taxpayers would mean more money for #natvoj. ”
